Aristida wrightii

Perennial, warm, native, poor grazing for wildlife, fair grazing for livestock. 1-2 1/2' tall, erect, densely-tufted bunchgrass. The leaf collar is hairy. Seed head purplish at first then turning straw yellow to ashy gray when dry. The spikelet has 3 spreading awns up to 1" long with two bending horizontally about the midpoint. Spikelets in clusters of 2-4 along the main stem. Uplands-hills and plains.
