Tom was born in Lexington, KY on October 3, 1954.  In Kentucky, his family was involved in raising race horses and Angus cattle.  Tom and his family moved to Tucson, AZ when he was 15 years old.  He attended Saguaro High School and graduated in 1972.  After graduation he attended the University of Arizona and competed on the rodeo team.                 

In 1977-1978, Tom was employed at Walco International servicing dairies, feedlots, and customers in Mexico.  In June, 1978 Tom married his wife of thirty four years, Paula Jo.  Tom and Paula were blessed with the birth of identical twin boys, Clement and Casey on January 8, 1980.  From 1978 through 1987 Tom was employed at Arizona Feeds in the animal health division and dealer network. 

The family moved to Thompson Falls, MT in 1987 to provide a better environment in which to raise Clem & Casey and to start a registered Red Angus herd.   From Thompson Falls, Tom and his family moved to Hobson, MT where Tom has marketed cattle for Stevenson/Basin Angus, Basin Angus, and Stevenson Diamond Dot for 17 years. 

When Clem & Casey came to Arizona in 1998 to play college baseball, Tom & Paula moved to Willcox, AZ.  In 2009 Tom & Paula moved to Sonoita, AZ where they have registered Black Angus cattle and Tom continues to market Hardesty Cattle Company females and bulls, along with marketing bulls for several registered Red Angus and Black Angus producers.  In August of 2009 Tom received his Real Estate License.

Throughout the years Tom has been involved in team roping and calf roping from amateur rodeos to professionally for five years.  Tom has two granddaughters, Clem’s daughter Aubrey who is five and Addison, Casey’s daughter, who is six.  His granddaughters are now his favorite hobby.
